Monday Must Haves - Giving Thanks.

Happy Monday everyone! And to my fellow Canucks, Happy Thanksgiving! I hope after a rather rough start to October, we can all remember something to be thankful for.

Lindsay and I have compiled a list of things we are thankful for this year. We are both super thankful for our family. Our mom and dad are amazing. We obviously love each other since we work together over here at The Ruby Thursday Collective. We all have healthy beautiful children. Wonderful in laws, and supportive spouses. We both thank our lucky stars daily for the lives we get to lead.

We are also super blessed to have a supportive group of friends, mom friends, and online friends. Our friends are what help keep us sane. Many of our friends wear so many different hats. They are team mates, they are sounding boards, they are advice givers. It's wonderful to have so many beautiful and supportive friends. Thank you to all of you.

One of the thing we are most thankful for this year is where we live. Canada. Canada, the land of the free and the home of the brave. The brave. The brave is Const. Mike Chernyk, who fought off a a man who attempted to kill him in a brazen terrorist attack on our amazing city of Edmonton. Luckily, the constable, and the 4 other people that were hit by a vehicle while he was attempting to escape and cause further damage, all are still alive. And I am so gracious that I live in this amazing, vibrant and welcoming city. #yegstrong

One of the things I am most thankful for in my country is gun control. After the horrific attack on Edmonton, I was to wake up the next day thinking things couldn't get any worse, and it did. One of my favourite places, Las Vegas, Nevada, was subjected to the worse mass killing in HISTORY. Obviously, we've all read stuff about it. I was married in Las Vegas, at Mandalay Bay.  It's time to really discuss the need for gun control in the United States. Do civilians need to own automatic weapons? What will it take? I am so thankful that I live in a place, where gun control is a thing. I am so thankful for my city, and my country.

Whoa, that was a heavy post. Ok, some other things I'm randomly thankful for.

Bailey: all dressed chips, hot cups of coffee, the opportunity to follow my dreams, salt lamps, and Netflix. Oh! and Amazon Prime. (duh.)

Lindsay: To echo what my sister said above, I am so thankful for my family and friends. This community of YEG, bust most importantly, I am thankful for love. The love I have for people and the love I feel from others. We are so fortunate to have what we have and we are all team. If we can all get on TEAM love, then I truly believe that this world be different, calmer, and peaceful.   As an empath things get tough for me because I feel and sense other peoples stress, anxiety and heartache. I take it on and sometimes feel hopeless. This is something that I use to think was a burden and now I think of it as a blessing. Maybe those people that are feeling crappy just want to know that they aren't alone in their feelings. Well, I am your gal. Whoa, Bailey is right. That got heavy. Well here are things that I am thankful for in no particular order: Coffee, All dressed chips ( can you tell we are related?), essential oils, GABA, Netflix, My MacBook, oh and a huge shout out to Pizza. Thank you for being delicious.

Monday Must-Haves: Ear Worms

When I'm driving along in my amazing rocking' van, usually I'm stuck listening to whatever movie Clara likes. But sometimes, I get to listen to my own jams. I've been a subscriber to Apple Music for almost a year now and I love it. I love being able to ask Siri what song is playing and then downloading it to my phone. My current musical ear worms are below. Click the links to check out a snippet from any of the songs on Apple Music.

I love love love love Calvin Harris. I have so many of his albums. They always are the perfect mix of pop and dance. This whole album rocks my world, but I especially love Feels feat Katy Perry and Pharrell. It's so happy and dance-y. I'm sure you've heard it on the radio but I always find myself dancing and humming along.

The best part about Apple Music is that you find so many other artists. I was listening to John Mayer and I found this album. It's so good. The whole album has an awesome singer/songwriter/folk vibe to it. I love it for when I wake up in the morning before the kiddo and enjoy a nice quiet cup of coffee. Check out Forever Young is Getting Old for a jaunty whistle-y tune for your morning pick-me-up.

Alright, I will admit that I'm a big fan of hip hop and rap music (Hello Kendrick Lamar's HUMBLE!). Sometimes you just need a little rap music to get you through your day or your workout. This song is from 2014, but I love me a little Nicki Minaj and this song checks a lot of boxes for me.

Good beat: Check

Nicki Minaj: Check

Good for cardio: Check

Joanne.jpg

No list of music I like would be complete without Lady Gaga. Her latest album Joanne was played on repeat when it dropped. Then I moved on, then I saw her in concert when she was here in early August and well, it's come back. My personal fave is Perfect Illusion. I love the song, I love the video, I just straight up love Gaga.

Boss Ass Bitch.jpg

I LOVE THIS SONG! It's actually my ring tone. There's nothing like a song reminding you how bad ass you can be. "I'm a boss ass bitch". Put this song as your alarm and you're guaranteed to kick the crap outta your day. Just a heads up though, if your kid is old enough to sing along...this might be a song you use headphones with.

Well, hopefully you discovered a few new tunes here! Let me know if you want to know more of what I'm listening to. Even if it's just the movies my kid is watching in the back seat of the van.

xoxo
